My lawnmower’s been really hard to start lately. Like, I’ll pull and pull, and it doesnt seem to catch. It’s like “chug-achug-achug..” and no “vroooom.” I mean, it finally started after like 15 minutes of trying last week, but I just don’t wanna go through that again. Anyway to get it to start, or do I need to replace something?

I’m just worried that the gas fumes, after being in the house, could cause and explosion if there was a spark when the air conditioner turned on, etc.

I sharpen the edges of the blade on my push mower each year, and I’ve done it 4 times so far. I’m just afraid that after several sharpenings the blade might someday get weak and perhaps break while the motor’s spinning and cause a serious accident, so how do you tell when it’s time to change the blade for a brand new one?

I have a 30” 10HP Craftsman mower (M: 502-255040). It runs fine until I engage the blades, then it shakes and cuts out. I can engage a little bit and everything looks like it is turning fine, but at about half engaged, the shaking begins and the engine chokes out. I’m wondering could this be unbalanced blades. They are pretty old, but they were working fine yesterday and I don’t recall hitting anything except an ant hill. Any ideas?

it is model number 917272030. it is a 18.5 with a 46 inch deck. i know it is before year 2000. but i need to know the exact year.
i am trying to replace the belt, any idea what size or where i can get them for a lawn mower that old?

I bought a new battery and hooked it up backward (black cable to positive/ red to negative) to my riding lawnmower and tried to start it. It made a loud noise and now won’t attempt to start (after fixing the cables of course). Any clues on what I broke?
Fixed it. Apparently there is a dummy fuse between the battery and the rest of the important stuff to keep idiots from messing anything up if they hook it up backwards. It was just a 50 cent 20 amp fuse that blew and needed replaced.
