I have bought a new lawnmower and accidentally put oil in the petrol tank. I then drained it and filled the tank with unleaded petrol but it will not start. What can i do?

most possible thing is that remains of the oil are still there. You should take it to a pro so that he can take it apart and clean the filters and all that
you probably have oil in your in your gas filter, change gas filter and your spark plug will need cleaned. pull rope when spark plug is out , this will blow out remaining oil
Well as long as you did not attempt to start it with oil in the gas tank… just clean the tank out with some kind of degreaser and let it dry completely. If you attempted to start it you will need to clean / replace the gas lines and possibly the little red / yellow button that your prime the tank with.
Just dump the gas out. Swish some gas in the tank, dump gas out. Fill with fresh gas & run away. A little residual oil will only cause some smoke. Be sure to drain the fuel line as well.
I’ve done the same thing. Try to drain as much as you can. See if you can open up the carberator and clean it out. It won’t hurt it, just make it hard to start. You’ll get allot of smoke when it finally does start. It’s only the oil burning off. Good Luck.
Drain out the gas you put in and dispose of it, then add more fresh gas. Open up the air cleaner and add a couple of drops of fresh gas directly into the carburetor opening. Do not prime the engine, just start it up and let it run until it stops. Then do the same thing until it keeps on running. It will smoke some while the oil burns off, but don’t worry about it.
Once the engine keeps on running and doesn’t stop by itself anymore, shut it off and let it cool. Then take the spark plug out and clean it and put it back in and you should be good.
take the spark-plug out and put some fuel right in where the spark plug came from [pure fuel will do] put spark-plug back and give it another go , good luck it usually works for most engines.
You will probably have to take the float bowl off the bottom of the carburetor and clean the oil out of it to this is usually not that hard and u shouldn’t need any new gaskets
Go to your auto parts store and get Engine starting fluid spray
Remove the spark plug, hold it in a rag and spray some starting fluid spray into it to drain out excess oil, then dry it thoroughly.
Before you put the Spark plug back in, spray 1 shot of Engine starting fluid into the hole where the sparkplug came from.
Put the plug back in with proper tightness, then shoot in 5 shots of Engine starting spray into the fuel tank.

Flush the tank real well with gas. Then remove and replace fuel filter. Pull plug out and flow out the cylinder and replace plug.
