How can I convince my mom to get a new lawnmower?

lawnmower
Philly Phaithful asked:

Our current lawnmower is over 10 years old, you have to pull it AT LEAST 15 times before it starts, when it starts, it smells terrible, is real loud, and shakes a lot. When cutting grass, it fills up after walking 20 feet. It sucks in general, both my dad and I hate it, but my mom won’t let us get a new one. How can I convince her that our current one needs to be replaced?

not to be mean to your mom, but do something to it where it wont start at all.

I guess convence her of how much better the yard will be with a new one…….by comparing your yard to other peoples’. and finding a new lawn mower for a cheap price and telling her “well this one doesn’t cost that much”

You can’t. Try not to bother.

Your mom won’t let your dad buy a new lawn mower? Your dad doesn’t need her permission to buy anything.

Have the princess try it for herself, starting and everything. She will get the idea REAL fast.

Sweetie ~ maybe your mom thinks y’all can’t afford a new mower at the moment (even a decent one runs around $300-400) and can’t justify getting a new one because the old one works. Yeah, your Dad could run out a buy a new one, but maybe it means your family will have to live on Mac and Cheese for the next 2 months.

If the mower is really THAT bad, why not suggest to Mom that you buy one of the Scott’s push reel mowers for $110 instead ~ this are self propelled, don’t use gas, and do a great job of cutting the lawn.

If all those reasons don”t convince her what do you expect someone to tell you? What do you mean “she won”t let you”? Does she take your Dad”s car keys or his checkbook to keep him from buying a new one? What a ridiculous question!
