If there was a problem with your fuel supply, even pushing the primer wouldn't work. Your getting plenty of fuel to the carburetor. The problem is the carburetor isn't working. The primer bypasses the carburetor, the choke doesn't. You need to take the carburetor apart and clean it. More than likely the problem is with the high speed jet which is usually positioned up the center of the bowl.

Alternately, you could just simply check the air filters, disassmble it check that all parts are clean and not clogged up with debris and reassemble it and give it another go.

Check petrol and oil tubes are not blocked or tangled.

Check that your petrol ratio mixture is correct.

2 or 4 stroke? a simple wrong mixure could cause the engine to fade quickly.

For 4 stroke engine, have you changed your oil? blackish soot means change it, asap, a clear transparent goldish colour means that it is new and clean. An old clogged engine will malfunction as well.

Clean your mower after everytime you use it.

There is a leak from the tank such that it cannot draw the gas sufficiently to the engine. Instead it is pulling more air, so the air/fuel ration is off so the engine cannot maintain a running state.
