How do I make my self-propelled lawnmower go faster?

I just bought a Troy Bilt self-propelled rear-wheel drive lawnmower with a Honda engine and four forward speeds. The problem is that I’d like it to go a little faster than a gentle stroll. It has plenty of power to cut the grass if I push it at a brisk walk downhill, but I wish it would maintain that speed with the drive engaged. Anyone know where I could find bigger wheels that would work or another way to speed it up?

The only reliable way to accomplish what you want to do is by leaving the self-propel feature disengaged. Larger wheels, smaller wheels, varying tension, etc. will change the speed but, still, does not give any more actual control of the speed. By using your own power to determine speed it will always go the speed you want it to.

    Good luck and enjoy! shooter1
