How Do I Remove the Wheel on a Riding Lawnmower?

I have an old riding lawnmower where three of the wheels have gone flat and the wheel is loose from the tire. I took off the plastic/rubber cap on in the middle of the wheel expecting to see a big bolt there but instead it’s just a metal nub or something and I can’t figure out the next step so I can remove the wheels to take them to the air machine at the convenience store. Also will I have a problem getting air in the tire since the tire and wheel are separated?

Put a stick of dynamite next to it and light it. That should get the wheel off.

You remove the thin metal ring on the axle. The wheel should just slide off. This sometimes breaks the ring, so take it with you to the hardware store and get a new one. The ring just taps back on. It’s designed to slide in one direction, removing it is sometimes a pain in the _ _ _.

Hate to tell you this but many old Murray mowers (and others) had a spline type wheel on them and are almost impossible to remove after a period of time as the become one due to rust etc. Remove the keeper on the wheel get as much wd40 as you can between the wheel and the axle, if possible get a brass or copper hammer and try tapping on the inside and outside of the wheel until you get it to move (this may take a couple of hours).
Also some mowers have a key and key way and over a period of time the key way gets wallowed until the key is not located in the key way anymore, you will have to work wheel back and forth until key is aligned to key way to remove wheel.
If tires are not too bad I believe I would buy a couple of tubes and try to install in the tires on the mower.
