How much grass should a 1.6 quart gas tank Lawnmower be able to cut before having to be refilled?

lawnmower
Cynthia asked:

I just bought a self-propelled, walk behind lawn mower and as I was almost done cutting my half acre lawn, it started sputtering and stopped. I look in the gas tank and it looked like there was some gas in there but I added more. Should a gas tank that size be able to cut a full half acre?

If you walk fast.OOps self propelled you are pushing it.

Unless the grass is very tall or wet 1/2 acre is what most of them are designed for.

Well yesterday I just cut my grandma’s grass and I used a lawnboy mower and I had to fill it up 2 X to get her grass cut which it was a half acre of grass. I walk fast and it still took a good 2 hours but the grass was tall because and my tractor broke so I am guessing it would take a full tank plus less then half of a 2nd tank.
