I am getting a new lawnmower and I was thinking about tinkering with the old one. Anything I should know?

Besides running the gas out, make sure you pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug. This way you won’t inadvertently start it if you move the blade.
After that, search the internet for tips on how to take it apart and have fun learning! I have always said hands on is better than any book.
