I have used starting fluid a lot of times and also carbuerator cleaner in the can to on regular lawn mowers, but would it be the same for the ride-on lawn mower.

You just spray some on the filter right before starting. I never remove the filter to do it becuase the lawnmower could backfire through the carb and burn you or cause the lawnmower carb to catch on fire.
I do this with my little 4 wheeler also.

thats right spray it in the filter.

You can damage your engine with ether if you are not careful. Tune your engine up so you don’t have to use starting fluid.
