I have a Husky hydrostatic mower never had the problem.
Do you have your owners manuals?
You need to go down the list for trouble shooting. I can tell you this SEARS is like very secretive about printing the stuff on line.
You will get a different answer from everyone you can get out the book or try everything suggested in the answers.
Just off hand I would start with
1.Is the gas old? if so get rid of it.
2.Clean the filters or change including gas line filter.
3.Have you checked the plug? how long have you had the mower? A little cleaning might be necessary on the plug if it's not old.
4.Make sure the battery terminals are clean
Always remember use the book that's what it for.
Trouble shooting guide for another brand but the guides will be about the same

It may need to be warmed up longer before you let the clutch out. You also may have some water in the gas, so you could add some gas drying solution. If that does not do it - I think it needs more cleaning and perhaps the air intake is not working properly.
