I have a craftsman model lt1000 riding lawnmower. It will start, but as soon as I release the clutch, it dies.

lawnmower

Do you think it might be a safety switch? How many safety switches are there? I also tried to engage the blades while the clutch was depressed, that killed the motor also. It has been sitting all winter. It worked fine last year when I put it up.

i do not know what a safety switch is. sorry. i know nothing about this really but for some reason it sounds like ur clutch might need adjusting. that means you would be changing the distance it sits away from the flywheel i think.

but here is some places to ask:

a lawn forum, for asking and talking about lawns and all

hobby forum, go to the subforum on small engine repair, they have a lawn equipment area

craftsman’s official forum, they have a subforum for lawn equipment Cakes
