I have an older craftsman riding lawnmower with gas in the oil and oil coming out the exhaust?

Briggs and Stratton engine model # 28r707. it has been running just fine before i put it up last weekend and now it wont start at all. i have killed the battery and run out of ideas. Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.

    Start by charging the battery and replacing the spark plug.

    Google “Briggs and Stratton engine model # 28r707″ and see if you can narrow things down a bit by reading up on it. Are you sure that you have enough gas? Did you try adding a little gas to the carburetor as you were cranking it?

    Those small engines can be real funny little things to fix. You might want to bring it in if you’re not too stubborn. Bambi Berkowicz

    change the oil clean the plug charge the battery install a shut off valve in the gas line about $8 at dealer your float in carb stuck open that will fix the problem also check the air filter it might need to be changed pickmefirstplz

    Sounds like your piston rings are gone, allowing gas to seep into the oil pan, then out the tail pipe. won’t start because of lost gas in cylinder. same principle as a blown head gasket on a car. Then you get water into oil and blast it out the tailpipe. dude_port

    The float valve is sticking allowing gas to flow through the carburtor into the engine. The gas is getting into the oil causing the oil level in the crankcase to be too high. The best thing to do is to clean and rebuild the carburetor. Putting a fuel shut off in the fuel line is not a bad idea but it is not the correct answer as far as fixing the problem goes. renpen
