I want to start messing around with engines and things like that, im really interested. How can i go about building a homemade go kart with a lawnmower engine? Any tutorials etc.?
I can understand wanting to make a go kart out of a riding lawnmower. They generally have larger horsepower engines. The one problem is that the drive shaft is vertical and you ideally want a small engine that is Horizontal shaft. That way the centrifugal cluth will marry up and you can align it with the chain and drive sprocket. I recently built a go-kart with a 10 horsepower Yamaha generator motor. With a little work we have been able to achieve about 65mph top speed out of the go kart in about 4.5 seconds
