I have seen this problem with cars as well as lawn mowers. Sometimes the problem is caused by the gas draining out of the carb - bad seal. Other times it is caused by a bad float that either leaks or is not set properly. If you are handy you can rebuild the carb, if not just order a new one. You don’t want to chance having a leak. smgray99

If it was a bad float or inlet needle or seat….. the fuel would be overflowing….
A good carb overhaul should help it, tear it apart, get a rather cheap rebuild kit and soak it in carb cleaner and blow it out with compressed air….. trust me, I rebuild these carbs alot…
If you need a reference when rebuilding the carb… take pics along the way. Also, Whens the last time the plug was changed? this can indeed make em harder to start as well. When was the last time the head was taken off and the combustion chamber cleaned of all the carbon buildup? This can also make them harder to start…..
I’ve had a couple that had problems starting…. one was a tiny briggs… took a good 4 or 5 times of pressing the primer bulb, and a good 3 or 4 times or more to start it…. took the head off and the carbon buildup was so bad….. the piston was hitting the head slightly. Cleaned her up, put the head back on and didn’t even have to prime it and it started on the 2nd pull. You might want to think about doing that first of course. 572ci.
