My lawnmower is starting, but not cutting grass?

I am trying to be handy and surprise my boyfriend by cutting my own grass, but I have a problem….The lawnmower started the first time I pulled the cord (amazingly…every other lawnmower I’ve ever had was hell to start), but when I push it, it’s not cutting grass! It seems to be running perfectly, and I know he has used it before to cut the grass. Am I skipping a vital step?

you may need to lower it closer to the grass. look for some kind of lever near the base and pull it up so that the lawnmowers body moves down.

Have you looked underneath to see if the blades are on it? Do this with if OFF of course! Mower blades can be removed. He may have taken them off for sharpening, etc.

First and foremost!>>>Use extreme caution around a power Mower,never-ever put Hands or feet close to casing that covers the Blade! Your Mower either needs the Blade sharpened or your B/F has taken the Blade off to have it sharpened! Let someone who is experienced check it for you!

TURN IT OFF!! Then look under it. The blades may be missing! Or too high up. Unsafe to check alone by turning it while it is on. Get a neighbor to hold it up so you can look to see if the blades are turning. Be careful! My husband lost 2 toes in a lawn mower accident due to carelessness.
