My lawnmower will not crank. The starter sounded like it was spining free then it started up?

then right after it had those problems i shut it down and tried to start it again and the it just clicked now it clicks everytime.Since the starter spun free and then the next time it just clicked is this starter problems?

    sounds like the bendix is bad, may have to replace starter,

    Could be the Bendix gears. However, it sounds more to me like there was only just enough juice in the battery to turn the starter, but not enough to spin the Bendix into position. Now there is not enough to spin the starter, i.e. the solenoid is just clicking. Try charging up thee battery before you change th starter motor. If it is the Bendix, I have repaired some on B&S engines, so try to get a repair kit rather than a new unit. Saves money!

    Check for spark. Start with the plug and work your way back.
