most have a low oil switch. check your oil. also it would have lost prime when it ran out of fuel. also sounds like maybe bad battery. it can take a charge and still not hold it for long. i'm driving

Well, the first thing you're going to have to do is to get the motor to turn over. You haven't mentioned whether this is a push behind or rider, so having no way of knowing that, I have no way of knowing where you're going to have to attack this problem to get the motor shaft to turn. If you can see any screened area where you might find fins, which would cool the motor, you might be able to get a screwdriver in there to pry on the fins to get them to turn. If you can see the flywheel and turn that , it would be attached to the motor. Once you get the motor to turn, then you'll have a better idea of what's going on. If you ran the tank completely dry, sometimes that sucks in any impurities that may have been laying on the bottom of the tank and they will need to be cleaned out of the carburetor, usually by a blast of air or WD40, from a can. Either will work. Then good clean gas and make sure it flows through the gas line, to the carb. Corky R

Charge battery or jump start if you don't have 12volts at battery. After starting check across battery with mower running and see if you have a charging circuit supplying 12.5/13.5 volts or so. hope this helps. Battery may not have enough amps to turn over. bow2hook

You might be low on oil. The engines sometimes have a low oil kill switch to prevent it from running when it's low on oil. paul67337
