Problem with Honda Izzi lawnmower. It only runs in choke?

position and seems to be missing at lower revs before cutting out. I have thoroughly cleaned carburettor and made new manifold gasket, but still the same. Any advice most welcome
Trueness of flange is a goodie, checked that before reseating. thanks your reply.

    Have you checked the “trueness” of the carb flange,fitting a new gasket is all well and good,but not if the flange is so distorted that it doesn’t compress the gasket.They are a soft metal so it can be filed flat,you’ll soon see from the filing pattern that the flange isn’t flat.or you could bodge it with lots of silicon sealant,looks terrible though blackcloud

    if you have to run it with the choke on that means that it is not getting enough gas. smokey

  3. Best answer usually the simplest Says:

    You are not getting enough gas which means either the float needle is sticking and the float bowl is empty or the idle mixture screw is not set right(about 2 full turns out from seated) or you air cleaner is stuffed with dirt and it needs the additional fuel just to stay running. Check air cleaner first cause it is the simplest.,,and cleanest route to go. Best answer usually the simplest
