This Toro 22″ Recycler Push Mower also has a battery, which never seems to want to start the mower good. I changed the air filter, the spark plug, & it has gas & oil in it. This mower starts, when it wants to, so all I do is to wait it out. It just now has started dieing after starting; I’m suspecting it’s not getting the gas god, but I don’t really know. Anyone out here know?

It’s a Briggs and Stratton 3.6 HP push mower. Never really had this problem before. I checked the fuel and air filter and they are fine. It will mow for about 10 minutes and then it craps out, the primer may be the culprit I’m not sure because it doesn’t come back out very quick after i push it in and then when the mower stops the primer is still pushed in so I’m thinking I’m just not getting the gas to the engine like it should just thought I’d ask the smart people out there though, thanks in advance.

The Air Filter is clean and the Spark Plug is new. I’ve tried removing the air filter, but it runs the same. Any suggestions?

While cleaning the underside of my lawnmower the other day, I tilted it to the wrong side - with the air filter facing down. Some oil came out through the air filter, so I had to replace that, but the engine does not start. Does anyone know what part(s) need(s) to be replaced/cleaned ?

chris m asked: Greetings
I have a walk-behind Briggs &Stratton lawnmower. Currently it is leaking gas into the air filter. I removed the filter and it is saturated. Is there a relatively simple fix? May it be a clogged gas filter? The mower works fine, no smoke. it just leaks. Thanks much for your time.

Ese Loco asked: Anybody have any tips on the following symptoms of a lawnmower that doesn’t start? I prime it with 4 or 5 pumps then rip the cord. It starts for a second, probably until the primed gas burns off, then promptly dies. It’s getting a spark. The air filter was thoroughly cleaned but still a no go. What are some things to look for?
I haven’t used this thing more than 10 times since I bought it! I’m by no means a mechanic but can stumble my way through with a wrench.
thanks!

After changing the oil, the spark plug, the gas, the air filter, & sharpening the blade, the lawnmower is still sputtering. I noticed that when I take out the spark plug, it is VERY dirty as if it is burning instead of firing. When I clean it, the lawnmower fires up VERY strong…for about 5 seconds before it goes back to sputtering. Should I change the spark plug cable? I read somewhere about contacts needing to be cleaned. Might that be the problem? Any help would be appreciated.
