My lawnmower spark plug keeps coming loose and falls off, causing the mower to stop when I’m mowing?

I have a Lawn-Boy walk-behind power mower, and it’s about eight years old. The first time this happened a week ago, my lawnmower popped and smoked, and my spark plug came off. Now it keeps coming loose. I replaced the spark plug, but keeps doing it. Any help would sure be appreciated! Thank you.
