El asked: I acquired a new lawn mower a couple years ago and it seems to mow alright, except that today when it was about to be used, the user pulled on the drawstring and it didn’t retract. It was like the spring in there was broken. This is a recurring problem. We took it apart and the spring looks to be in working order, but I know nothing about lawnmowers. Does anyone have an answer to fix this? Pictures or a link would be helpful as well. Thank you.

I am a 20-something girl moving into a house for the first time after college. I need to buy a lawn mower and would like to get some recommendations. It needs to be affordable (<$400). I don't know much about lawn mowers, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

A person exerts a force of 120 N at an angle of 40 degrees on a lawn mower handle as they push the mower. If the mower moves at 1.75 m/s, how much power is used by the person to move the mower?

We received a electric lawn mower as a gift (it’s a second hand mower) my husband has been using it for several months. The only way he can use it without cutting the electrical cord is pushing and pulling the mower with one hand while pulling, pushing, picking the cord with the other. I think it takes double the time cutting the lawn with this machine….is there a tip that you can give us? maybe something we don’t know, like a retractable electrical cord…I don’t know….something that you can use to be able to push the machine with both hands

The exterior of the engine and the top of the mower deck are covered with oil/dirt. I assume I have an oil leak somewhere. How do I figure out where it’s coming from? It’s a Craftsman push lawn mower.

A gardener pushes a 12 lawn mower whose handle is tilted up 37 above horizontal. The lawn mower’s coefficient of rolling friction is 0.15. Assume his push is parallel to the handle.

dreadnaught2005 asked:
the lawn mower keeps running when the release lever is pulled, and when the spark plug wire is off. does any one know why this could be? i figured that the gap on the spark plug is too small and thus turning it into a glow plug like on a diesel engine.
