Is it okay to put lawnmower/small engine oil in your car. If you already did, could you just ride the oil out?

I accidentally put small engine oil in my car that is used for lawnmowers weedeaters etc. I was wondering if this could DAMAGE the engine in any way. I always thought oil was oil, so it would lubricate like its suposed to, if its bad let me know. Thanks.

El asked:

I acquired a new lawn mower a couple years ago and it seems to mow alright, except that today when it was about to be used, the user pulled on the drawstring and it didn’t retract. It was like the spring in there was broken. This is a recurring problem. We took it apart and the spring looks to be in working order, but I know nothing about lawnmowers. Does anyone have an answer to fix this? Pictures or a link would be helpful as well. Thank you.

Soldier’s Girl asked:

I have the smallest lawnmower I could find but it is still heavy to push. I saw two lawnmowers in a sale circular. Both are 22 inches. One is 5.5 torque and the other is 5.0 torque. They do not have the bags. Can you tell from this if these mowers are heavy? Would a high wheel mower be easier to push?

Years back, the norm was to use non-detergent in lawnmowers or so it was recommended. But non-detergent is not as popular today…does it really matter in today’s engines?
