The handle of a 22 kg lawnmower makes a 33-degree angle with the horizontal. If the coefficient of friction between lawnmower and ground is 0.62, what magnitude of force is required to push the mower at constant velocity? Assume the force is applied in the direction of the handle.

  1. garyp Says:

    The horizontal force needed to keep the lawnmower moving is

    22 * g * .62

    The horizontal component, h, of a force, f, applied at a 33-degree angle is

    h = f * cos(33) garyp
