The problem when fixing it is involves the spring that retracts the cord. I have seen a couple of nasty cuts when people try working on it. (he actually had a rotten pull chord, but thats beside the point) We just untangled it and bought a new one. (auto parts store/ small engine shop). b/c urs isnt rotten (or i dont think) u may not have to buy a new one. just remember where all the parts go when u disassemble.
