TORQUE SPECS for my Sears lawnmower?

lawnmower
asked:

I am replacing the Breather Assemby on my 5.5 HP Sears lawnmower (Briggs & Stratton motor.) How much TORQUE should I apply on these two screws holding on this breather assembly?
I have no service manual to guide this repair, so I please ask for EXPERIENCE or SERVICE REPAIR SPECIFICS in NUMBERS (value.)
Thanks.

dude, no need to be a gorilla behind the wrench. put the bolts on, turn them down with your fingers, till they are to hard to continue on.
take a socket that fits them, and very gently turn the wrench, till it feels snugg. Thats it. the engine does not vibrate that much to make them come loose.

Gorillas love to monkey around, but at times like this, too much, creates nasty problems. duster

Not much at all. Just snug them tight and thats’s it. All it does it hold the cover on. cristanine

There really is no torque ratings for screws. If you are worried about these screws vibrating loose purchase some LOCK-TITE. Apply a small amount to the screw threads and tighten down the breather assembly. westernstar
