WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING A USED LAWNMOWER?
I’m a single mom here in NH looking to buy a used lawnmower in CRAIGSLIST , what do I need to look for when buying something like that please? Electric, gas or whatever they use to run? I have a very small flat yard and I never own or used one myself before.
What will be in my best advantage I mean?
Merci beaucoup mes amis!

if it is small and electric one will be fine…make sure you get a charger with it. the only thing you should have to replace would be a battery. have the seller show you how to run it , what ever you get,gas or electric. *havin fun in the sun*

Has the motor received regular oil changes? A motor can EXPLODE (piston comes loose and breaks though the block) if not well-maintained.
This is known as “throwing a rod”, by the way. monkeydamour

ALWAYS GET GAS! for a lawn like yours, make sure it runs, and that there is not alot of black smoke or it sounds bad, and make sure you got a sharp blade on there, and I think you’ll be fine paperthinedge

not much, dont buy 1 without seeing it run, you dont want tons of smoke coming from it. paint while pretty dont make em run.with it cold(check by quickly touching the finned side of the motor) 3 pulls and it better be running.that push mower might be worth $50.also get 1 with a primer button and a bowl type carb. ask the seller.if it vibrates bad, you dont want it.if the described mower has a tuneup and new blade no higher than 75, you can find small new mowers for around 130 sometimes. idontgivafork

If you are not mechanically inclined get an electric for a small flat yard.Dont get cordless.Electric will be cheap to buy and run ,no gas, no oil, no maintainence. You wont have trouble starting it.Dont let the grass get too long or you could burn out the motor.Electric will be cheap brand new.It will be quiet, just dont run over the cord.Highest amp draw you can find is the most powerful. picklenose

Before you buy, have the seller demonstrate that it starts easily, cuts good. Also ask him why he is getting rid of it! mike p
