What is the best way to clean a foam filter for a walk behind lawnmower?

lawnmower
Joe asked:

Is there any way to clean the filter since I can’t find a replacement without ordering one for $20 plus s&h.
It’s just a piece of foam, but it’s an odd shape so I’d like to just clean it. It’s not horribly dirty or clogged.

An air nozzle works rather well for that stuff… If its more a sponge and you can let it sit for a bit I have used gas to clean out the residue however you definitely need to let it air out a couple days after you do that. tweeter_train

Wash it in gasoline. Squeeze out thoroughly. Let dry. Re-install. Mow grass. JAMES R S
