What time in the evening is the latest it’s OK to use an electric lawnmower?

lawnmower
pejayuk asked:

I live on a quiet estate and don’t want to be inconsiderate to those around me (Especially with young children). So when is it ok and when is it not ok to get the mower out! I don’t get chance at weekends and usually work till quite late……. Thanks in advance.

there is no law but environmental health departments usually offer a guideline of 9pm as being the latest reasonable time because after that it is accepted that younger children are going to bed

Why not ask your environmental health dept and then you have a comeback if anyone says anything

I had major issues with a guy over the path from me doing this. He’d start about 8′ish on a summers eve, drove me nuts & woke my kiddies. So i’d say before 7pm. Please dont do it after 7, never confronted my neighbour, but it really made me mad, glad you’ve asked! BLUE EYES

i work with mowers and if you are in a quiet area with children you should switch of about 7.30pm in busy areas you can use till 9.00pm ANTHONY C

I would think that to go beyond 8pm would be a mistake. Well done. If everybody was considerate to the sensitivities of their neighbours then we would have a better world. ANF

All good answers have been given here.
I just have to ask how big is your yard?
If it takes an hour and 15 minutes to do, like my yard.
Then start early so your done by that 7:00 mark. jillian

I think anything after 11pm can be officially classed as ‘nuisance noise’ by councils etc. you come over as being a considerate neighbour ;-) so i would agree with the others and say about 8 - 8:30 pm

so when can you come and do mine?

    lol Yogini
