I would not .You probably will just smell gas and oil when you get back,not to mention grass clippings.Worst case if you have a gas water heater (pilot light) you might have gas fume migration .Turn off the pilot before you leave.When I left on vacation I locked the main door and then blocked the top of the garage door with a section of wood and you could also unplug the opener if you have one.Tell your neighbors you are leaving,a thief will steal from their house as easily as yours.

It will be fine, but you may want to keep it away from ignition sources such as the water heater, furnace, gas stove. It’s not the liquid gas which ignites, but the escaping gas vapors.

It will stink, and I’d throw a drop cloth over it to help contain both issues.

I had neighbors who used a padlock and chain on the inside of their garage door when they left town. Only works if you have an egress back into the house, or side door, though.

Your husband doesn’t want the house to explode either.
Drain the gas. Then store the machine in the house while you’re gone. Put it in a room where you can close the door so the house doesn’t smell like your mower, or cover it with a tarp or large garbage bag.

There is nothing different about a lawnmower sitting in the garage or in the living room. Why would your house explode??? I think the answer that makes the most sense to me is to just lock the garage. If your garage doesn’t have a lock simply install one. It takes about five minutes! By the way. Why do so many people think that things will just explode at random for no reason?

probably best to get rid of the gas in the tank because it might smell a lot !

I keep my lawnmower in the garage, and it hasn’t exploded yet. It doesn’t have the same temperature control your house will.
