Call sears at 1 800 4 MY HOME and they will tell you over the phone.

You really don’t need the year to find the part. You just need the sears model #.
To find the belt go to this website:

look at the diagram to see which belt you need and scroll down the page until you get to the #. Probably # 47 or #48.

Sometimes you can take the actual part #, Google it and come up with a place to get it cheaper. I often find the same parts cheaper on E-bay.

Your tractor has three belts, two for the deck and one for the ground drive.

Deck belts are #148763 and 144959
    Ground drive is #130801

Sears has them all in stock or go to someone that sells Stens belts and they will cross reference the numbers.

You can go to sear parts direct.com and type in your model number and see the diagram and part numbers. You can order from there also.

You don’t need to know the year it was made. Just the numbers of the parts.

144959 Secondary V-Belt,#148763 Primary V-Belt, and #130801 Ground Belt. You can also bring in your Model# to any Sears store and they will tell you whether or not the part numbers in your manual have been replaced. However if you are still curious about the year your tractor was built, the month/day/year are the first six digits of the Serial Number; i.e. 051509 means it was built on Friday. The first three digits of your model number ,917, is the source code of the manufacturer.
