When selling a home, do most seller leave the lawnmower for the buyers?

lawnmower
Xavier asked:

We have a nice Toro lawnmower that we bought for $375 two years ago, and has held up well. When selling a home, do most seller leave the lawnmower for the buyers? I have a neighbor who’s interested in it, so if it’s rare that a buyer expects to inherit one, I’ll just sell it. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Wow. You’re all quick. 100% agree, so I’ll sell it. Thank you all for your answers.

No you leave them nothing except what is attached to the house. Tigg

People usually take their tools with them if they move. Very unusual to leave it JIM

No, unless the buyer writes it into the contract or the sellers want to sweeten the pot. We, as buyers, wrote it into a contract once. Simpson G

They may feel offended that you left something behind and charge you for cleanup. MadMax

If you don’t want the lawnmower, why not ask the new owner if they would like to have it — with the attitude that you would like to leave them something they might find useful and helpful. Always try to turn a situation of this type into a win for you as well as a win for the other party, and you will go through life making friends and gaining respect. If they don’t want it, definitely don’t leave it — but do that, by letting them know you have taken care to not leave something behind that might be a burden to the new owner. One way or another, there is almost always some approach you can take that will let the other person know you have tried hard to be considerate and treat them kindly. Boy does this approach bring you dividends, day after day, year after year. David

In all the houses I have bought and sold over the years, I have never left or been left a lawnmower.

Unless prospective buyers put in the contract that they would like you to include the mower in the purchase, it is yours to do with as you wish, include selling it. My Take on It
