Why does my dog turn into a raving psycho dog whenever I crank the lawnmower?
Whenever I start to crank the lawnmower or the engine is running she will bite down on the front wheel of the push mower and drag it across the yard, even if I try to steer it straight. It’s like she’s pumped up on adrenaline. She’s only 55 lbs but she’s a bull terrier/boxer dog if that helps.
I asked her why she does this but she won’t tell me in a form I can understand. Any ideas?

leave her in the house when you mow.
Mine likes to chase the vacuum.

The noise iritates her. She’s either trying to stop the noise because of the discomfort it is causing her. Or she thinks it is going to hurt you and wants to protect you.

1. Learn dog language.
2. She probably sees the lawnmower either as a threat, in which case she tries to assert her authority over it; or she thinks it’s a toy, so she’s trying to play with it.

All normal dogs react like that to lawn mowers, its just part of there brain telling them that its something harmful, kinda, and the noise makes them react how they do

Not all Dogs act this way towards lawnmowers/vaccums/other loud things. HOWEVER certain dogs see various things as threats, the way your pup is acting it sees the lawnmower as a threat. Th Loud noise is likely irritating the dogs hearing, due to the keen hearing they have. Dogs can hear higher pitched noises, it isnt the engine noise that irritates, Lawnmowers give an highpitched squealing that is usually unheard by humans, the dog is likely responding to what its hearing. By seeing as a threat it tries to defend you and herself. Let her see the Lawnmower while it isnt working, let her sniff, then crank it… when she responds, shut it off.and repeat.. this is called Desensitizing the animal. I actually had to do this with my Horses to clip them with shears, as well as my dogs with the lawnmower, it just takes time and patience with her.

she either doesnt like loud noises,or she thinks shes saving you from the evil mower…my dog likes it when I push the vacuum around.
Also,I have the power to understand dog talk
Just keep her in the house when you mow,and all will be well.
good luck!

its probably because of the noise and wheels.dogs ears are more sensitive then ours.maybe the reason she doesnt tell you, maybe because she doesnt want you to know,or she doesnt know herself.lol
