The mower has too much oil in the crankcase?

The engine may be turning backwards? Anthony M

The crank case is overfull. Maybe from gas seeping into it from the carburetor.

Check the oil level. Maybe change it too. Mr. KnowItAll

sounds like the mower wasn’t stored flat. If you tip the mower too much to like change the blade or such oil will come out the muffler. wait a little bit and let it settle and then try again a little oil will come out but it should clear. If not that you need new piston rings. crusher_mma

Could there be a leak where the oil is; and going into the muffler? I don’t know much about them; I just pull the cord and it starts up. Barbra

Crankcase vent plugged, crankcase overfull, engine was turned on its side or upside down. gejandsons
