Why is my riding lawnmower blowing a fuse?

Nancy asked:

Hi. My riding lawnmower (Cub Cadet) starts up fine and I can drive it around, but if I engage the blades and mow for a bit the blades will stop. Now, the engine is still running at this point BUT if I turn it off it will not start back up. This is because I have blown a fuse. I replaced it several times with the same results. What the heck is going on? It seems that it’s only when the blades are on that the fuse will blow.

  1. Toffy Says:

Something is not wired properly causing too much of a load on the mechanism that engages the blades. I would think you should take it to a repair shop or call the place where you got it and ask them what is going on with it. Toffy

If it has an electric P T O , that could be drawing too many amps. and blowing the fuse. Gary J
